Smile!

Happy Wednesday!   Happy National Running Day!!

At least that is what I am telling myself.   My oddly found optimism about things outside of running took some punches this week.   The inner cynic is trying to fight it’s way back.  Grrrr.   Throw in a migraine going on 36 hours into the mix and double grrrr.  Luckily, I have a reason to post that won’t bring you all down with me!!

Among other things, like eating. :)
Among other things, like eating. 🙂

Last week, Mostly Healthy Living nominated me for the One Lovely Blog Award.  Thank you!!  Head on over and check her out!   So, it breaks down like this-

  1. Thank and link back to the person who nominated them.  done
  2. Share 7 things about themselves.   Kind of boring
  3. Nominate 15 other bloggers and comment on their blogs to let them know.   Well, names are listed but the commenting doesn’t always follow- so if you see it first- have at it!

7 things, hmmmm.  That’s a tough one, particularly 7 things that I haven’t said before… hmmm.

1.  I have never eaten any form of cookie dough- not even the ice cream.   I can imagine the shocked face you are making now.  🙂

2.  I seriously just blanked for an hour.  And read other things.

3.  I multi task way too much.  All the time, I never really feel like I take the time to focus on one thing and when I try, I get twitchy.   I don’t know why I am so easily distract-able these days years.    This post which is probably onne of the shortest I have posted has taken me 2 hours.   I multi-task well at work but not at home.

4.  I have not ridden a bike in 20 years.  Which makes last year’s tri dreams a total pipe dream.   Crazy slacker.  I love the idea of riding a bike but the reality kind of freaks me out.    Particularly if you take it really seriously.  I mean how much does all that stuff cost?!  And clipping in?!  No thank you!

5.  People think I am stand offish but I am really just socially awkward.  That comes out in 2 ways- too much talking, often fast – or seeming totally bitchy.    😦     Standing in the corner is more my thing.    I need to work on this.   People say cell phones made us anti-social.  Before phones, I would have been hiding some where with a book.

6.  I’ve owned 9 cars since I got my license, and I have no idea how to drive a stick.    My mother tried to teach me when I was younger, let’s just say it was rough.    🙂

7.   I tend to use odd or old fashioned words and expressions.   One example “cotton” .    So have you cottoned on to how odd I am?

Actually this list makes me seem very boring.  I can’t decide if that’s sad or funny.   🙂

And now for the 15-

  1. I’m exactly like you with the social awkwardness. I’m either talking way too much and too energetically, or I’m totally shut down. it’s weird. I’ll take my books over that any day!

  2. Congratulations, and thank you!
And I’m socially awkward, too. It’s bad, I’m very confident, but insanely shy, so it’s very hard to walk in anywhere, much less strike up a conversation!! I end up saying the wrong thing because once I start, I don’t shut up! LOL

    1. Oh, I am notorious for saying the wrong thing! Or something that sounds fine in my head but is easily misconstrued. Sometimes I am the one who starts talking and then just fades off when I realize no one is listening.

  3. Thanks for the nomination!!

I’m more amazed that you haven’t ridden a bike in 20 years!! Seriously? Wow!

I feel you on the social thing. While I wouldn’t consider myself socially awkward, I have a lot of trouble initiating conversations and making the first move. If someone else does it I’ll talk just fine but for some reason I just cannot initiate conversation and whenever I do I feel like it sounds soooo awkward and fake. I’m working on it though!

    1. You’re welcome!

Right? I was kind of scared by how many years it had been. I didn’t realize it until yesterday when I was watching all the cyclists from the AIDS ride passing by. It’s been so long!

Ugh, starting conversations is the hardest! It always feel so forced and I worry that everyone can tell how uncomfortable I feel.

  4. Sorry to hear about your epic migraine! 😦 I hope things have improved and that you’re feeling better now!
Thanks for the nomination! 🙂 I’m wicked socially awkward too… my thing lately is to try to overcompensate for my desire to stand in a corner by myself by forcing myself to talk and then rambling madness that I am unable to stop. It’s good times.

    1. The migraine has eased up a bit, thanks. 🙂

Ahh, yes, rambling madness, I’ve been there too. Sometimes I think less words are a preservation tactic for myself, except then I look bitchy. Waah. 😦

    1. Haha, I was waiting for someone to say something about that! I guess I’ve just never been tempted to try it. Maybe it’s the consistency? I don’t even like energy bars that have that similar consistency.

  6. Awesome! Thanks for the nod. I will get right on that (once I finish everything else I have to do – ahhh I hate being so busy!) 🙂
Up until last year when I visited San Francisco it had probably been about 20 years since I’d ridden a bike to…or at least 15 anyway. I managed to only fall once (but I scraped my knee so badly!). I’m so uncoordinated! I also say ‘holy moly’ wayyyy too often. And I really can’t believe you’ve never had cookie dough! WHY?!?!?!

    1. Yeah, I think I have given up on regular posting until we have a little more help at work. I feel so behind!

I would probably fall over in 10 feet or less. I would like to try it again but I have a feeling it will be a more leisurely beach cruise type of ride. 🙂 As for cookie dough- I’ve just never been tempted to try it. Everyone thinks that’s odd though. 🙂

  7. “cotton” hahaha. that was too funny. Now I’m gonna try to use random words in place of other normal words. Cotton will be first.!!
Number 5 is sooo me. Resting “bi***” face for daysss. haha I can’t help it. But I swear I’m a lot nicer than I look.
and oh oh.! I see my name 🙂

    1. Sometimes people just look at me blankly and I have to think about what I just said. It’s Fallon-speak, haha. Exactly! I don’t mean to look bitchy- it’s just my face! 🙂 I need to work on a more relaxed look, I guess. How does one even do that?

  8. K, so I’m waaaaaay behind on commenting on this, but yay! Thanks for joining in the fun. 🙂 Totally hear you on the bike thing. My husband and I bought road bikes a frighteningly long time ago and have only been on them a depressingly few number of times because: (1) it hurts no matter how many fancy, designed-just-for-women saddles I try and (2) I’m fairly certain I’m going to just topple over and into traffic at any minute. How was biking so easy as a kid?
