7- Dizzy

Last week was a bit like a tilt-o-wirl.

Is that what those things are called?

I had plans of running on Monday but was lured away by home cooked tri-tip. I’m sorry but when someone offers your tri-tip, you go.

I did get out for a bit on Tuesday– all of 1.6 miles. My mother was having a bad day and wanted to meet for dinner so I squeezed in what I could between work and meeting her. I threw is some sprints too and while they were 2 minutes slower than they used to be, it felt good to crank it for a short time.

Ahhh, Wednesday, when the world went sideways. Or that was me. I woke with a migraine but it wasn’t even a bad one, however it had some fun side effects. The room was spinning, I could barely stand up. Sadly, it took me falling 3 times in 20 minutes before I chose to call in sick. This isn’t the first time it’s happened so I wasn’t too alarmed. Seems to happen every 4-5 years. The first time, I went down so hard in the bathroom, I swear I still have a dent in my chin. The next time was also another bathroom fall but that time I gave myself a concussion. Good times.

So, all in all, I remained mostly unscathed this year but it did keep me fairly lazy for a few days, i.e Thursday through Saturday. I did make it to work on Thursday and Friday though. Heck, I was so tired and fuzzy, I didn’t even play with the new shoes I received on Wednesday.

I headed out for my long run on Sunday but that may have been an overshoot. I was riding the struggle bus. Everything was so hard, my pace wasn’t even the frustrating part- it’s how hard everything felt. I ended up bailing at 6 miles and hitching a ride from my mother.

I was disgruntled with my run though, so I headed out for another few miles that afternoon. In shorts! And my new shoes. Another 3.3ish miles added to the bank. These miles weren’t drastically different pace wise from the morning miles but they felt so much better.

So 10.9 miles for the week. Not at all where I wanted to be but I’ll call no permanent damage from the dizzy spells a win.

How was your week?
