Oh, Friday was a long time coming this week. Anyone else feel like that?
And yes, I’m too lazy to look up proper number right now.⬆️
I come up with great things to write while running but then I open the laptop hours later and forget it all. At least they sound good in my head. But we’ll never know since those thoughts disappear like sweat in a washing machine.
I’m having sock or shoes issues. What else is new right? The PureFlow’s seem to work pretty well but I still get a blister on my right foot. Soooo, I ordered a bunch of socks to try from the Running Warehouse… and maybe shorts.😂
Except apparently I brought the work town weather back north with me. It’s been mostly cold and gray for the last 2 weeks. Except of course last week’s long run when I melted.😛
I need a new series to binge watch when the mood strikes but nothing seems to catch my eye. Any suggestions?
You know what’s perfect portion control? Kids meals. No lie, I may have ordered one or two recently.
Ok, yes, I know that was cheesy but it’s mean a week and I gotta make my own cheer here.
My car is in the shop getting the repairs from the incident so I have a rental. It’s a Kia Optima and I thought it would be fine because I used to own one, granted that was 3 cars ago. OMG- I feel claustrophobic. I’ve hit my head on the roof like 4 times already! And yet I can barely reach the gas pedal-WTH? And why are there so many options on the console? Talk about distracted driving. Oh and it grades your driving- “you drove 30 miles in 49 minutes and averaged 33.3 mpg”. Seriously???
I hit my 12 year anniversary at work on Tuesday. What can I say, I stick around. For that matter, I’ve been commuting for 6 years now. Who knew? I used to think Target was too far. It’s like 4 miles from my house. 😛
The wind this week has been ridiculous. But it’s not snowing out here so maybe I shouldn’t complain?
It’s wildflower season and I find it amusing that everyone is so excited to take pics (myself included) about something we are going to mow down soon enough. The fire season warnings are already going up. Welp, I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.
Considering I just dozed off writing this, I think I’ll stop here.😴
And while I have no desire to ever run it- guys, Boston is here!!!
It’s been a while since I rambled and boy are lots of thoughts bouncing around my head.
The rain is making me cranky and fussy. Well, maybe that’s just me. The last time I was this stressed by the weather was 2 years when constant rain took out my route to work. Maybe that’s a hidden stress- constant worry that the highway is going to get shutdown for 2 months again. Well, that and that it’s effecting my running. Running in the rain is one thing but I don’t trust the drivers around here on sunny, clear days. I mean we iced over a few weeks ago and there were 15 accidents in a 2 mile stretch of freeway in an hour.
Sometimes I feel like it’s 2 steps forward and 15 back. Work, running, health, etc. I have a feeling I know what my weak spot is but can’t seem to make myself do anything about it. Which then again is the problem. Grrrr.
But in good news, I got my tax return. Paid back the room re-do, yay. I also paid off my bed. Could someone explain to me why those things cost so damn much?!?!
Oh, did I mention added some more races to the calendar? I used to race just for the hell of it, I miss that. The last few years I was focused on getting faster but did nothing but get slower and slower. I miss those naïve days of racing and want to get back to just having fun and running ALL the races.
Did I ever mention that I am part of Orange Mud’s ambassador team – The Dirt Unit?? I’ve the company for years and own 4 different packs, the handheld and multiple transition towels. Serious love. And if the damn rain ever stops, the trails might open and I can get back out on them.
I feel like there is more to say but I’ll stop there for now.
I should be sharing my 2018 recap but typing it is taking me longer than I thought it would. I just keep slacking.
I have dual monitors at work now! It’s glorious! They are new and pretty and shiny and I love it. Only downside is that they are bigger (not the downside, that’s awesome) but I have been standing more this week and my back and feet hurt. My desk is a standup desk but it’s about 5 inches off the right height so it’s always been an issue so the adjustment curve this week has been a little steep.
Speaking of feet, my left foot still hurts. Sometimes it’s fine and other times I feel a dull ache across the bones along the top. This can happen when I am walking or sitting. Not cool. I’ve worn my comfiest flats all week. Which is kind of an oxymoron.
Which then leads me to this weekend. Castle to Coast is Saturday; 8 miles along an open highway with no real way to bail if my foot protests hard. Not to mention that I still haven’t felt well this week. I did call my doc 2 weeks ago to make an appointment but they can’t see me until the end of January. Not helpful. I am seriously leaning towards a DNS but I don’t know if my pride will let me do that.
Other than the race I am riding the fence about, I may repaint my bedroom this weekend. It’s been yellow for far too long and I need a change. Now I just need to choose a color.
I’m still here. I can’t remember what my bed feels like. I miss my pillows. While I type this it sounds like elephants have moved in across the hall.
Did I tell you all I got stuck in the elevator on my first night here? 🤣
Ok, mini rant- why can’t San Diego drivers drive????? Or park?? I’ve never seen so many red lights run before… even by buses. And parking? Lines mean nothing apparently. I come from the land of F-350’s and Super Duty trucks and they park better than these Beamers and sports cars.
In shiny news, I registered for my first races of 2019! More on those later but I am looking forward to them. And I have a big hope for 2019, so hopefully they all lead into that.
It’s Fall Back weekend and I so need that extra hour of sleep on Sunday. Then I will hate it again on Monday when I am running in total darkness after work. Where are my lights??
Any podcast suggestions to get me through my 6-7 hour drive home on Saturday? I still have a few BibRave ones saved up but I am going to need more.
