What’s up people?  Happy Fri-yay!

I’ve only been back at work for 4 days and I am only treading water.   I was prepared for July to be crazy but that crazy started 3 weeks early.   I came back from vacation to find hundreds of emails and that the next 4 weeks are full of trainings and meetings.  I need more hours in the day.  And more caffeine.  Some of these meetings are 8 hours long.   I apologize now if I start making no sense over the next few weeks.  ๐Ÿ˜›

Speaking of long meetings?  Any tips for staying awake?  I have troubles in enclosed spaces and after a few hours a meeting room becomes a small space.

Can I just say that I’m loving the extendable visors in my new car?  It’s the little things right?

There should be a bullshit detector at the DMV.  I have to renew my license this year and my last few have all been by mail.  My picture and information haven’t been updated since I was 19.๐Ÿ˜ฏ  My weight was wrong then- 40 pounds more than what I really weighed at the time- and I didn’t bother to correct it today.   She asked if it had changed and even though I know full well I weigh 30 lbs more than it says- I said it’s all good.

How old is your driver’s license picture?

What are you doing this weekend?

Week 19- Taper?

Upcoming Races:

  • Destination Races Santa Barbara 13.1- May 13
  • Rock N Roll San Diego 13.1-June 4

Yeah, that’s it- lets call it taper.

This week was good, short and odd but good.   I’m still sleeping poorly and stinkin’ tired, but that happens sometimes, right?    One thing that didn’t help was I somehow screwed up my GERD medication.  With the ownership change and insurance change at work, I tried to make sure I had all my medications stocked in case there were delays or issues yet somehow I forgot the most important one.  Then when I went to refill it, I had no refills and the doctor response was delayed.    Holy mother of heartburn people, my chest was on fire for 5 days straight.  That sure helped the lack of sleeping, ha!   Healthy eating went out the window quickly too, vegetables and fruits just made it worse.

I also got locked out of my blog on phone so I am behind on replying to comments.  I’m catching up, promise!

Anyhow, with the race being on a Saturday which is odd for me, I had a plan for the week.  Whether or not it worked remained to be seen.

Monday- 3.75 miles  Wardrobe hell.    In an effort to get over my issues and deal with the heat better, I ordered some new shorts.  I love my Fancy Stride (Oiselle) shorts but let’s be real, I’m feeling a little too fluffy to wear them comfortably right now so I figured I would go or something with a little more give.  Ha!  I ordered the Roga from Oiselle because I have never heard a bad thing about them.  Oh my freakin’ A!  I spent the next 4 miles picking them out of my crotch with every 3rd step.  I finally gave up on running and walked it back in when I realized I was running so damn oddly my knees were starting to hurt.   Back to the drawing board.

Tuesday- Rest Instead of running in some crazy wind I decided to do battle with my hair.   The brown is really hanging on!  My roots are freaky light and the bottom is dark so I’ve been trying to lighten the bottom.  I’m not winning.  ๐Ÿ˜›

Wednesday- 1.15 miles  The lack of sleep over the past 2 weeks was kicking in and I was super tired.  It was about 20 degrees colder after work than I had planned for and my family started texted about all meeting up for dinner.  It didn’t take much convincing to have me only run 1 lap of the lake path.  That said, the short period of time I was running was pretty good.  Then at dinner, my dad expressed his displeasure with choice of hotel locations for this race trip- Lompoc- my mother agreed.  So at the last minute, I was changing hotels and cities for Friday night.  ๐Ÿ˜›   Side note- everyone at work was happy I moved hotels too.

Thursday- Rest  I wanted 2 rest days before the race.  Plus a Saturday race meant that the road trip started on Friday so I had a few last minute things to get ready.    Thankfully, my medication was finally ready so I was able to get that after work.  Plus I had to finish packing.

Friday- Road trip!!   I took the day off work and my mother and I headed down to Santa Barbara to do a little shopping before packet pickup.     Per usual, I was able to have my carb loading pizza for lunch.  This is becoming a staple.    We shopped a bit before heading back North to Solvang for packet pickup.  Ever been to Solvang?  It’s so cute and Danish but the tourists are crazy!   People were literally standing in the middle of the street to take pictures and glaring at cars trying to drive by.   One woman kept waving me on at a stop sign and getting mad that I was messing with her picture but she was trying to wave me through 20 pedestrians, ummm no!     I had been feeling oddly nauseous at varying points throughout the day so after bib pickup it was off to the hotel to get some rest.

Saturday- Race day! And what a great surprise to wake and discover that the lovely time of the month had come calling… again.  Wait, didn’t I race like this 2 weeks ago?!?! Grrrr, so this was going to be fun.  Recap to come.  ๐Ÿ˜›

Sunday- Rest  It felt weird having raced a half marathon on Saturday.  I felt like there was something I was forgetting to do.  Part of me wanted to run but I didn’t budget time wisely.    I slept in later in an effort to try and catch up on all my missed sleep.   Then there were all the usual weekend errands I didn’t do Saturday to get done before an early Mother’s Day dinner with the family.  Since my quads were feeling the hills from Saturday, I decided the rest wouldn’t hurt.

18.1 miles for the week.    Not too bad considering the measly 1ish mile run on Wednesday.     Especially when you compare it to last week.  ๐Ÿ˜›

Friday!!!! Yay!!!ย  Oh wait, it’s Thursday.ย ย  But it’s my Friday, I have a 3 day weekend!ย  Woot Woot!

I’ve started this post multiple times over the past 2 weeks but dozed off while writing it…oops!ย  I’ve been so damn tired these past 2 weeks.ย  I have no idea what’s up.ย  Can I blame the weather?ย ย  This is the weirdest damn May I can remember.ย  On day it’s on fire, the next it’s freezing and misting.ย ย  Grrr, just pick one already, me and my allergies can’t take it.

I think the universe is telling me to watch less tv, half the newer shows I watched this year were canceled.ย  With Bones and Grimm gone too, my background distractions are all gone.ย  How can I multitask now? ๐Ÿ˜›

Work has been going well with the new company.ย  Yeah we have our days of “huh?” but for the most part things are going well.ย  It’s hard to complain when they treat to breakfast and lunch.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Well, my waistline may have some complaints soon but yumm.

Share something random!

What are you looking forward to?

Happy Friday!!

First week post merger is almost done!  Woo hoo!  I didn’t mess up answering the phones as bad as I thought.  ๐Ÿ˜›  Only a few times.

Rain is coming back, boo.   While I am over the rain and dealing with it, it’s kind of shocking how quickly all the lush green started to go brown in the last 2 weeks.   Anyways, it’s only supposed to be for a few days.

from Tuesday’s run

Oh, speaking of the new company- they treated us to lunch on Monday.  Since I always have a late lunch I am weird about what food I will order since it has to wait a couple hours.  I ordered the grilled cheese.  Holy crap, this was the most amazing thing ever.    I ate part of it when it arrived and reheated the rest at lunch.  Seriously, it was awesome.    Oh yeah, the fries were damn good too.

I had to go to an IRS office to prove who I was.  That was fun.    This was after a phone call where I spoke with an unbelievably rude representative from the IRS.    Can the person who tried to fraudulently use my social security number and get a massive refund just pay my taxes this year?  That would be nice, ok, thanks.

I won’t lie, I really just want to spend a day sleeping.  Is that bad?  If it could be on a beach in a hammock, all the better but at this point just sleep.  I’m still feeling a little ragged around the edges after last week.

I totally had something else to say but just completely blanked…oops!  Your turn!

What are you doing this weekend?

Mid Week Musings 6

Yes, I know it’s Friday, but it’s been that kind of week.  For a short week, this has seemed like the longest few days. My brain is all jumbled   As a result, I feel a little scrambled and fried.   So here we go.

I got lost on my way to work today.  Seriously.    It’s not like it’s moved.   The last half of my commute is on a windy, rural highway that is prone to car accidents and landslides.  This morning a car accident shut it down.   We were rerouted and that’s where things went screwy.  It was like follow the leader through the rural side roads and we chose the wrong leader.   Combine that with heavy fog and I had no idea which way was up.  Somehow we ended up making a giant loop and ended right back where I started.   Except I’d never come on the highway from that side so I didn’t immediately recognize it.   I was so freakin’ confused.

We’re getting a Little Ceaser’s in town.  Why is this a problem?  I believe I’ve mentioned I have a minor pizza addiction?  Seriously, most of the employees at my local Domino’s greet me by name.    I don’t even have to check in, I walk in they yell out how much longer I may have to wait.  ๐Ÿ™‚   So what’s the problem?  This Little Ceaser’s has a drive thru.  Drive thru pizza- say what?!

I’ve done pretty well on cutting way back on soda.    Now I only drink it when I go out or if I am stressed.   Getting lost in my backyard made this a soda day.  ๐Ÿ™‚

Coffee is a morning requirement though๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I’m not a huge fan of Adele.  There I said it.  Hello actually drives me a little crazy.  But this spoof is freakin’ hilarious.  Except now every time I hear the song on the radio I get a craving for some French fries.  ๐Ÿ˜

I need to run 12 miles this weekend.  If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know I have a serious mental block with 12.    Big time.  People are out there dropping 20 milers and I have troubles running 12 by myself.   And it’s supposed to pour on Saturday.  Well, maybe.  It keeps changing.   Crazy rain.

Speaking of rain- it rained so hard on Tuesday that branches came down in the parking lot.   I put on my shiny new rain coat and headed out to the clear the lot.  The jacket kept the top of me dry but the bottom of my dress was drenched and I discovered my boots won’t last much longer.   Water got in through where the sole meets the upper and for the second time in days my feet were drenched.

I watch all sorts of tv but I’ve never been a fan of anything zombie.   Until Sunday.    I was trolling Netflix for something to watch and somehow I landed on Z Nation.   It has gotten me through 20+ miles on the bike this week so it can’t be that bad right?

All right, think that’s enough rambling for one post.  Happy Friday!!!

Ever been so turned around in a familiar area that you got lost?

What are you watching lately?
