Funk

I’ve been in a weird place the last few months.

Both in running and life. Or maybe it’s mostly life but spilling over into running? Hmmm. Who knows.

I have a birthday coming up in a few days and I’m not sure how I feel about it. I keep joking that I’m going to wear all black and mope about it. I growl anytime someone brings it up. Which maybe isn’t so nice.

I just feel…. off. Not quite sure how to describe it.

My job is great, my coworkers awesome. My running may be measly and pathetic these days but I have 41 half marathons and 2 full marathons under my belt and not really all that many people can say that. Personal life may not be where I thought I would be at this point but is anyone’s really ever? And it’s not like it’s bad or anything, just quiet. And I like quiet. For the most part. I had some weird health concerns this year, so maybe that’s adding to it? Oh and the ultrasound came back clean so yay!

I started the week with a good run hoping that would set on the right path. Not that I know what that would be exactly. The week was as crazy busy as I thought it was going to be. I forgot what day it was half the time. Which can also be a good thing if it works in your favor. And I have another 3 day weekend to look forward to as I don’t work on Monday.

Not sure where I’m going with this maybe I just needed to vent? I’ll be back in a better mood next time, promise.

39/40 mORE OF THE sAME

I could tell you about the 2 weeks of non-running- smoke in the air, bad AQI, sinus infections and migraines but instead I’ve had some rambling running thoughts I wanted to share.

I’ve been running less so my toes look so much better this year, ha! No missing toenails! My heels on the other hand look worse. Hmmm.

Anyone else notice that running bleeds over into other aspects of their lives? For example, my least favorite type of running route is an out and back. I much prefer a loop of some sort from start to finish. I’ve noticed I drive like that too. If I leave work for lunch, I inevitably drive in a near circle to get back even if it was shorter going back the way I came.

Without races and races trips to spend money on, I’ve become a little more of a compulsive online shopper. Oops? Apparently I should have bought a treadmill with my hazard pay months ago. Except I have no where to put one. Who needs a bed anyways?

This is the longest my running shoes have lasted in years. Who knew when I bought up extra shoes in January, they would still be in my closet in the boxes come October.

Also I seem to be buying lots of running clothes. Yet, not running. Makes total sense, right?

It’s fall but it doesn’t feel like fall. I am so looking forward to fall running. But maybe that’s me lying to myself? You know, like the “I’ll start on Monday” thing.

Timehop has been full of race pictures the last few weeks. It’s made me so nostalgic. That used to be one of favorite races. I miss races.

And people. I miss people. Which is odd as I see so many during the day.

Has running led to any oddities in your life?

Rambling On 49

Happy Friday!

Ooof, this week was…ooof. I am all messed up.

Last week, I upgraded to the dual monitors at work. This week, a Varidesk was installed.
I also replaced my recliner with a chair and ottoman at home, started Transform 20, quit soda and haven’t run in a week.
In short, my body has no idea what is happening right now.

The weather has been crazy rain this week, so the timing for resting my foot might not have been so bad. At least that is what I tell myself.

A 3 day weekend is ahead and I am looking forward to finishing up the room redesign. I still have no idea where half my stuff is, though I do now have an overhead light back so yay! I also need to do some serious running. Although, let’s be real, it will be some slow running. Why are 90% of the trails closed? Grrrr.

What are you up to this weekend?

Mid Week Musings 6

Yes, I know it’s Friday, but it’s been that kind of week.  For a short week, this has seemed like the longest few days. My brain is all jumbled   As a result, I feel a little scrambled and fried.   So here we go.

I got lost on my way to work today.  Seriously.    It’s not like it’s moved.   The last half of my commute is on a windy, rural highway that is prone to car accidents and landslides.  This morning a car accident shut it down.   We were rerouted and that’s where things went screwy.  It was like follow the leader through the rural side roads and we chose the wrong leader.   Combine that with heavy fog and I had no idea which way was up.  Somehow we ended up making a giant loop and ended right back where I started.   Except I’d never come on the highway from that side so I didn’t immediately recognize it.   I was so freakin’ confused.

We’re getting a Little Ceaser’s in town.  Why is this a problem?  I believe I’ve mentioned I have a minor pizza addiction?  Seriously, most of the employees at my local Domino’s greet me by name.    I don’t even have to check in, I walk in they yell out how much longer I may have to wait.  🙂   So what’s the problem?  This Little Ceaser’s has a drive thru.  Drive thru pizza- say what?!

I’ve done pretty well on cutting way back on soda.    Now I only drink it when I go out or if I am stressed.   Getting lost in my backyard made this a soda day.  🙂

Coffee is a morning requirement though😃

I’m not a huge fan of Adele.  There I said it.  Hello actually drives me a little crazy.  But this spoof is freakin’ hilarious.  Except now every time I hear the song on the radio I get a craving for some French fries.  😝

I need to run 12 miles this weekend.  If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know I have a serious mental block with 12.    Big time.  People are out there dropping 20 milers and I have troubles running 12 by myself.   And it’s supposed to pour on Saturday.  Well, maybe.  It keeps changing.   Crazy rain.

Speaking of rain- it rained so hard on Tuesday that branches came down in the parking lot.   I put on my shiny new rain coat and headed out to the clear the lot.  The jacket kept the top of me dry but the bottom of my dress was drenched and I discovered my boots won’t last much longer.   Water got in through where the sole meets the upper and for the second time in days my feet were drenched.

I watch all sorts of tv but I’ve never been a fan of anything zombie.   Until Sunday.    I was trolling Netflix for something to watch and somehow I landed on Z Nation.   It has gotten me through 20+ miles on the bike this week so it can’t be that bad right?

All right, think that’s enough rambling for one post.  Happy Friday!!!

Ever been so turned around in a familiar area that you got lost?

What are you watching lately?
