Rambling On 39

Ever had a case of the yawns?  I was yawning all day on Thursday.  I just couldn’t seem to stop.

My Nissan would not let me lock my keys in my car.  I can officially confirm that my Ford is not that smart.  Neither am I.   Lesson learned the hard way.

Speaking of my Ford- I joke that it’s the gutless wonder. Yet, somehow this week, every time I got behind someone- on the freeway, the scenic route, etc., cars kept moving over. Do I look scary???😂

I finished my Person of Interest binge on Netflix. I started a few months ago but took a break when the last season started because I knew what was coming. I won’t lie- I acted like a 5 year old and hid the screen with my hand during part of the series finale. 😂 Still can’t handle it.

Now I need something new to watch.

This week has been odd with the exercise. Makes me wonder how the weekend is going to go.

All the schools have officially started again out here which means my commute has become a little more time consuming. 3 school zones in 3 different cities.😒

But in awesome news- the weather forecast is in the 80’s for the next week!!! Party!!!

What are you up to this weekend?

Join me for a ride on the funk train. 🚂

If only I timed these posts better, that number up there would be funny.  Welp, it still kind of is.

I’m in a bit of funk this week.  Not sure why.  It could have something to do with that number up there.   If this post goes up on time, it will be going up on my birthday.   Sometimes I really forward to my birthday, this year? Meh.

That same funk delayed some comment responses- sorry!

The fair starts next week.  How is that even possible?? It should not be fair time yet.  However, I am not complaining that fair food is almost here.  Funnel cake- yes please.  Now if I could just pull off the Florida Georgia Line tickets…

I’m debating a race on Saturday- just a 10K.  But it’s on the beach.   Remember that last beach race 2 years ago?  The half?  Asthma attack city.  I’m on the fence.  Thoughts?

I miss reading.  I used to read all the time but lately every time I pick up a book, I don’t seem to finish it.  This is something I really need to work on. Well I read plenty of fanfic online but I don’t think that really counts.😛

I have a training plan for San Jose, woo hoo!  But more on that next week… errr, the week after next.

I really should have asked for Friday off, why didn’t I do that?  Silly Slacker.

Hell Y….eah????

I am a runner.

Or am I?

On Thursday evening I went for a run around the lake path, a route I’ve probably put hundreds of miles on over the years.   Some short, some long; it’s still home to my fastest unofficial 5K and once held a race that actually gave me my one and only first over all female win.

However that was years ago and this was not a race.  All my runs start with at least a 1/2 mile walk.  I know it drags down my overall pace but it’s how I warm up so I don’t care.   Much.  On this night I passed a woman running that I had never seen there before but let’s be honest I recognize the dogs more than the people.   We passed each other going opposite directions during my warm up walk.  We later passed each other again once I had started running.    Only this time she yelled “hell yeah” and gave me a high five.

At first it made me smile… then I started to wonder.   Was it a “hell yeah” in runner solidarity or do I just look so damn new out there? More like a newborn fawn these days than a runner?

I’ve made no secret that I’ve been riding the struggle bus since Big Sur.   First my back and hips were causing issues then my left foot has been a jerk for the last month.  Motivation has been lagging. Hell, the scale has hit the highest number I’ve ever seen. Oh and random asthma attacks have joined the party.

I don’t really feel like a runner anymore. I feel like a fraud.

Running is hard. Getting out the door is hard. Not giving up is hard.

I think that’s part of why I like the medals so much even if that seems petty. They remind me that I can do harder things. They’re a visual I can hold onto when I’m struggling through a 4 mile run. But then that also frustrates me. Why is it so hard??

I don’t want it all to be easy just a little less huffing and puffing would be nice.

I’m not new. But I am. I’m a runner… even on the days I’m not.

It’s one foot in front of the other, right? And repeat.

Last ramble of 2017.

I totally just zoned out on the page…oops!

Every year I tell myself to take the week after Christmas off because things always seem to go completely screwy at work and I end up feeling a little ragged.  This week was no different.   Someone remind me of this next year.   Please.

I am behind on my 2017 wrap up post…but if it is still 2017 can you really be behind??? Hmmm.🤔

This week has been weird, sick dogs- Zoey went to the vet, sick coworkers, houses literally on fire- not mine. Like I said before, a screwy week.

Anyone racing on New Years?  How about a Polar Plunge?  I have both options available actually but I don’t think either are likely.    A jump in the ocean doesn’t seem like the best idea for the sore throat and cough that I currently denying exist.  Nope, don’t have time for that.

However, the 3 day weekend sounds very nice.😀

Happy Friday!

Let’s add sickness to injury, cuz’ that’s fun right?? Grrr.

One of my customers told me he’s disappointed in me because it’s almost the middle of December and my hair is still blonde. 😛  I told him I understood.  He’s probably not the only one.  Normally by now I would be on “Fall” color #2.  I’ve just gotten lazy.  That would require so much work.  I told him he would have to settle for me taking scissors to it on a random basis.  Like Tuesday.  I think it may be crooked right now.  😛

Winter has arrived in full force.  I can’t find my gloves.  Well, I found one.

Confession- I have not run in 7 days and today isn’t likely either.  And I had to count that on my fingers.  Double Grrrr.

But really, anything I have to complain about is pittance compared to the fires burning South of me.  Thomas- you can stop growing anytime now- ok? Thanks.  In all seriousness, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone effected and serious thanks to all the fire fighters and volunteers.      Oh and just to mention- the Thomas fire is about 150 miles south of me so other than some smoke in work town, everything is fine here.

That’s all for now- tell me something good!
