Week 39-Social

I had to be social this week. So social. I can’t people anymore.

First up was a mixer on Thursday after work. Then Saturday morning got as a volunteer for an event at the homeless shelter. Ok, truth that one was the best one and I had no problems helping out. But the kicker was the charity fundraiser dinner on Saturday evening.

Peopling is hard. So hard I make up words.🤣

Monday 2.5 ish miles
This is as my first run since the asthma attack fun of Surf City. My only goal was to keep my heat rate in the green and go for about 30 minutes. I felt like I was crawling but still spent half my time in Orange. 😒

Tuesday—- can’t remember what I did.
Sure it was something though. Oh wait- I had an all day work meeting. How did I forget that?

Wednesday 3.2 miles.
I had a crap day and just needed to run it out. Which I did by either hauling ass or walking text venting to a friend. Oddly enough my heart rate stayed lower which is funny considering my pace dropped into the 6’s and 7’s at some points. The things anger and a downhill can do for you. 🤣

Thursday- mixer and it was freezing.
Got to tour some more homes though!

Friday- Ill.
I woke up feeling super crappy. I blamed the massive swing in the previous day’s weather.

Saturday 8.2 miles
I had the volunteer shift in the morning and the fundraiser that night so why not throw my long run into the middle?😂 Actually the run was kind of great- kept a chill pace and felt pretty good. Minus the 2 miles where I was trying to shake some foot pain. I changed my route due to an off leash dog and then my left foot had a disagreement with a bump in the side walk. Graceful, I am not.

Sunday- oops
I meant to run, I meant to hit a trail. Then I started reorganizing my closet and dresser and that swallowed my day. Like it does every time I do it.

This week had its ups and downs in running and life, but like I said last week, I’m just going to keep rolling with it.

How was your week?

Week 38-Sundown

Think I am going to make my motto for the rest of the year to just roll with it. And roll and roll. And now I’m singing that song from Clueless.

Monday- 3 miles
I headed out after work to get in some miles. I was still feeling a little bit of the migraine fog. By the time I felt like I was finally warmed up and moving my legs, I was already done. Maybe I should have run more but I also didn’t want to push it.

Mood

Tuesday- Thursday- Rough
I knew I had off site training for work so I knew running was going to be tricky. I was hoping to get in a run or 2 in a new town but what I didn’t anticipate was the massive flare up my GI disorder. That was fun. Food and I were enemies. Even taking myself to Jamba the last day of training didn’t work. I was also starting to rethink my weekend plans.

*See, I thought I needed incentive to run 10 miles this weekend. So I looked online and guess what? There was a race in Huntington Beach! Nothing like drive 5 hours to run 10 miles. 😂

But I also was accepting that I was not ok. So I dropped to the 10k.

Oh-I did hop on the bike on Tuesday for a few miles.

Friday- Rest
I felt a tiny bit better but still felt like I had made the right choice downgrading.

Saturday- Surf City 10! Recap to come.

Sunday- Shopping
That counts as cardio right? I stopped at an outlet mall that I ‘ve driven past for years. It was amazing! I walked all over and shopped til I dropped. I bought running pants so fall weather, come on out!

11.7 ish miles for the week. I am winning at under trained. Ha!

How was your week?

Week 37- Little Late

Yeah, this is a little late but I had important things to say Monday!🤣

Last week was part awesome and part rough. So does that mean it was roughly awesome or awesomely rough? Choices.

So let’s get into it. Mostly because I can’t remember what else I did last week.

Monday- 7 miles
I was in a weird mood after work. Part of me wanted to run and part didn’t. I headed out and honestly thought I would turn around at the 5k mark. Except I kept running. And running. And ended up doing 7 miles after work. Who knew?!? I actually might have kept on running but I had a late start so it was getting dark and I was wearing all black.

Tuesday- 3 miles
I knew my schedule was a little wacky for the week so I headed out for some nice recovery miles on Tuesday. They actually felt pretty good.

Wednesday- mixer
Instead of exercising physical muscles, I had to exercise the social ones for work. So much harder.

After work on Saturday but pre 2 hour migraine nap

Thursday- Saturday
Here’s where things kind of derailed. I woke with a little headache on Thursday morning but it turned into a raging migraine by the end of work. Friday was more of the same. In fact by the time work was over, I had that watery eyed, teary look from the pain.

Sunday- 4 miles
I meant to run 8 miles for my long run but I knew my body wasn’t quite there. I was still feeling the migraine fog and just felt off. I headed out and told myself to do what I could. My legs felt ok but I was having massive heart burn issues that made everything uncomfortable. I am less than impressed with this medication change.

14 ish miles for the week. Better than last week but not great.

How as your week? Last week or this one?

Week 35- Way Back

How is it September?? Seriously?

The 106* temps aren’t helping me adjust. On one hand, I am anxuiusoly awaiting Fall temps but I am not looking forward to it getting dark sooner. Also, I am not looking forward to the Pumpkin Spice- everywhere. Sorry but it’s true.

Last week was both good in ways and rough in ways. Running was better but I find myself in a funk I am having trouble swinging my way out of. People’s new penchant for making fun of my name isn’t helping.

I also had an appointment with my gastro last week. Which was good because I received a med change as well an appointment for an endoscopy. He also finally addressed the elephant in the room that is my weight. Do we have a direction to go? Not really but the fact that I’ve put on 40+ pounds in a not long period of time is finally ringing someone else’s bell than just mine.

I am still running plan- less as I prepare for all my October races. Which I was fine with because I somehow convinced myself I had plenty of time. Only to have the realization last week that I actually only have 5 weeks until my next half. What?!?

40 minutes of slogging and we drop 3 degrees

Monday- 3.1 miles
I was a little concerned how this was going to feel after essentially 2 weeks off but it felt pretty ok. Granted, I backed off on pace a lot as it was still 100 degrees by the time I ran and this idiot packed pants. Really?

Tuesday- 3.6 ish miles
I had new shorts to try out from Athleta and I was hoping they would be a good fit as they were cute. I was also feeling like running so I set out for my 5 mile route. Instead around 2.5 miles in, I was trying to map a shortcut in my head. The shorts and I were not getting along. I even tried Vaseline lip gloss as a substitute body glide but I feel like it just made things worse. The last mile was probably more bowlegged hobble than a run.

Wednesday- Recovery
The wounds of Tuesday needed time to recover. Plus this was my doctor’s appointment day.

Thursday- 3.1 miles
This was a kind of stressful day and I just wanted to turn my brain off. I went back to basics and ran the route I ran back when I was first starting out years ago. I just wanted to turn off my brain and run. And I maybe should have carried water- 95 felt hotter than I thought it would.

Friday- Nada
The beauty of no training plan is that I no longer have to lie to myself about running on a Friday. I don’t even attempt to plan it anymore.

Saturday- oops
I set an alarm to run but then didn’t get up. I also didn’t make it out in the afternoon as even I’m not stupid enough to run in 106*.

Sunday- 2.94 miles
See above and repeat. I did drag myself out after dinner for a few miles but as it was literally 10 minutes after eating, this was a walk. But something is better than nothing right?

12.9 sluggish miles for the week. Still an improvement on the previous 2 weeks. Small victories, right?

How was your week?

Week 34- Bad Pavement

I had such good intentions last week, I really did.

You know what the say about good intentions? Yep.

The week started of good with an easy 5K run on Monday. After the previous 4 days off, I knew it could feel a little bumpy but it felt pretty good. Granted, I am running slower as I am toying with heart rate training. Y’all that crap is hard.

Then the poor paving started.

I meant to run after #bibchat on Tuesday but instead I spent a couple hours cleaning my car. Yes, it was that dirty. I am ashamed. But I also finally put on my current registration tags and a new 26.2 sticker to replace the magnet that mysteriously disappeared.

Then Wednesday, I had a van certification class for the high school after work. So much fun. However there were some questions asked during class that made me glad I don’t have kids in high school sports because I would Never let them ride in a car driven by those people. Seriously.

Part of the venue

Thursday was rough, I was feeling horrible all day but I knew I had a mixer after work. I made myself get through it all. The only thing I could keep down was curly fries, ha! It was also kind of a rough day at work.

Friday was still a little rough. I maybe have downplayed how rough my GI disorder has been treating me the last few months. It’s been so awesome, ha! But I do have a doctor’s appointment coming up.

Naps all around?

Saturday and Sunday were a hot mess. The weather man lied and the weekend temp was around 10* hotter than he said. You would think after Saturday was so wrong, I wouldn’t have trusted Sunday’s… but I did. And it was 106 so yeah, I was super lazy this weekend. Oops. Wait, does going to the movies count as activity? Nope. Oh well, at least Angel Has Fallen was good.

So yeah, 5k for the week and 0 MM100 workouts. Double oops.

How long does it take for you to change your tags?
